Two fabulous days last week – we went from the tail end of a cold, wet, grey winter to summer heat almost overnight. Headed for the coast on one of those days and saw this.
A wonderful seascape that just dissolved into the sky, a special moment. One thing I’m discovering about the coast is that the light is never quite the same. I’m going to try to remember to take a shot like this every time we head to the coast. I feel a new project is getting off the ground!

The color toward the top is almost glacier-like. That smooth, undiscernible movement from water to sky is beautiful, too. An implied horizon can be as intriguing as one that’s more distinct: maybe more so.

There are so many shades of blue, aren’t there. And yes, there is glacial blue in that sky. And the blue of a sediment-laden Canadian lake too.

You’ve proven (once again) that the simplest of images can also be the most stunning. This is just gorgeous, Andy! Nicely seen, nicely shot.

It’s beautiful. And makes the mind wander in all directions – literally. It’s rare, isn’t it, when you can’t see a demarcation line at all between the sky and the sea.

Thank you Otto. This was an exceptional sight. As you say, sometimes that line is as sharp as a knife, and that can be beautiful too. Every time I visit the coast and look out to sea, the view is different, the colours have changed.

It’s very beautiful, Andy. And I agree, that’s what I see too, living next the sea. A view or composition like this is great for ICM as well.

Thanks Dina. You are very fortunate to be as close to the sea as you are.

I love smudged horizons, and the sea is the best place for them. It’s a beautiful image. That project sounds like a really good idea. I look forward to it!
