Visiting a coastal town at or near high tide can limit the number of opportunities for shoreline photography, and on this occasion forced me inland to explore the town centre.
This was the case last weekend when we re-visited Worthing, and it resulted in this picture. The sun shone out of a cloudless sky, lighting up this glass screen. A light fitment provided a convenient object behind which to hide the sun, and an old-fashioned lantern on an exterior wall helped to complete the picture.

Thanks Linda. It wasn’t an easy image to capture. I had to hide the sun because otherwise the contrast would have been too huge for the camera to cope with. And then find an interesting composition. The ornamental outside light is I think critical to the success of this image.

A photo that makes me feel in some kind of Japanese shadow theater. I really like how you have framed the frame, with so much going on along the edges. A great photo.

Many thanks Otto. It was difficult working out how to compose this and frame it, complicated by the fact that I was looking straight into the sun, and I needed to hide the sun behind something. I’m glad you like it.

Thanks Linda. I really couldn’t work out what purpose this up-above glass screen served. It didn’t keep the cold out, or the wind. It was just a large expansion of glass that needed cleaning. But I can’t complain – it provided an image.
