The best-laid plans can go awry. It happens to all of us from time to time. You set off to go somewhere, maybe an hour’s drive away, may be further afield for a photo shoot. It may be a place you’ve been to before and you have some particular images in mind to re-shoot or […]
Do chances come your way? When was the last time you had a chance to take an unusual image and you missed it? Do you recognize chance, photographically speaking? Most of us like to exist in our comfort zones in many walks of life – we are risk averse. Risk is dangerous – things can […]
It is said that the camera never lies. In fact it can tell a cruel version of the truth all too clearly – think of all those images you will have seen of politicians, celebrities or other prominent people papped at their worst: asleep inappropriately, yawning, having a bad hair day, eating a bacon sandwich […]
I must start with an apology as it is now a few weeks since I last wrote an entry on this blog. The truth is that I have been acquiring new images at a frantic pace, and that makes the title of this post particularly relevant. Every time you go out and capture a few […]
Now there’s a place I’d like to play a round or two Andy. A yacht club does seem strange but lake Geneva is not so far away I suppose. I love this composition. An almost abstract image.

This image highlights one of the problems of image capture when out on a long hike. I could easily have spent half an hour on a small section of this path that ran parallel with the golf course but climbing up through a tight series of zig-zags. Patience would have resulted in better composed images with golfers placed strategically on the Greens. But I had a seven hour day ahead of me and I just couldn’t spare the time to wait for that right shot. So a few had to be enough, I took one or two on the way down although by that time I was becoming dehydrated, the heat was quite suffocating and all I could think of was along cold beer in Tasch!

Love those contrasting greens and tree shadows Andy . Sounds like you needed to save yourself for that long day ahead , a cool beer is always a grand reward at the end of a hike 🙂

It was a long very hot day, but worth it for the images I got as I climbed higher, and the mountains on the far side of the valley became more visible

What a course! It looks beautiful. I like how clear the water is as well as the peninsula green.
What are the par and distance for the course? I would love to play it next time I am in Europe.
