After two days of packing, our house now stands half-empty and our possessions are housed on palettes within containers awaiting delivery to our new home next week.
In the process, our home of 32 years has lost its character – denuded of pictures, ornaments, books and objects, all of which had an individual history and evoked a unique memory.
A chapter is closing and a new chapter is about to begin. A page will turn.

About LensScaper
Hi - I'm a UK-based photographer who started out 45+ years ago as a lover of landscapes, inspired by my love of outdoor pursuits: skiing, walking and climbing. Now retired, I seldom leave home without a camera and I find images in unexpected places and from different genres. I work on the premise that Photography is Art and that creativity is dependent on the cultivation of 'A Seeing Eye'.
Good luck with the move. Write if you get a chance.

Thanks Ken. I will send one more post before we finally move next week and then I shall be without broadband for a few days

A huge step for you, but soon enough you will have dressed the new place with those individual histories, even if in a different order. The same elements will be rearranged to write those new chapters, familiar and yet different. I hope it goes smoothly for you.

Thanks very much Ehpem. It will be enjoyable to slowly populate the new space with memories, but as you say there will be a rearrangement, a re-ordering, different items may take precedence. I’m looking forward to that phase but it will be a long task I think

Even though I’ve moved so often, it’s alway a poignant experience at some point. It’s the in-between time that’s the hardest. Then, that page turns, and the joys and necessities of the new take over.
The only Pickford I remember knowing about is Mary. Funny that your move should remind me of a early movie star!

As always thank you Linda. We feel we are living in a lull before the ‘storm’ returns. Three more days of loading up, then the process goes into reverse and we try to find homes for everything – but at a more leisurely pace.
