Looking up

An undulating broad ribbon of reflective material hanging from a ceiling in a newly-opened  superstore yielded this abstract image. Never forget to look up!

About LensScaper

Hi - I'm a UK-based photographer who started out 45+ years ago as a lover of landscapes, inspired by my love of outdoor pursuits: skiing, walking and climbing. Now retired, I seldom leave home without a camera and I find images in unexpected places and from different genres. I work on the premise that Photography is Art and that creativity is dependent on the cultivation of 'A Seeing Eye'. I'm not averse to manipulating images to produce derivatives that may sometimes be far removed from the original.

You live in the most reflective world. I can’t remember ever seeing reflective material used in stores around here — of course, I avoid malls like the plague, so that could be part of it.

I really like this one. I never would have figured it for what it actually is, but I do like the the way it seems to present different sorts of stylized waves: especially the curl on the far right, and the running waves in the middle left. The colors are great, too. Look up, indeed!

This is one of a number of undulating ribbons or bands of reflective material (?metal) hanging high above an atrium in this large store. With every step the image changes. This is in the town to which we will shortly be moving and may well feature again in future posts. The difficulty is getting the images without getting apprehended.

  2. Another ooooooooooooo photo from you! Doesn’t matter what it is—the lines and shapes and colors are great.

Fascinating image Andy! Definitely worth getting your collar felt for! 🙂

Thanks Adrian. My collar is un-felt today, and we were in too much of a hurry to linger for a picture. One of these days the pace of life will slow a bit…

Another great image with your trademark patterns Andy.

  5. Abstract glory! Love it. 🙂
