A boarded-up frontage in SE London awaiting re-development or perhaps demolition. I’m not quite sure why purple was chosen as the appropriate colour but it adds ‘colour’ and the contrast with one window left au naturel completes the image

About LensScaper

Hi - I'm a UK-based photographer who started out 45+ years ago as a lover of landscapes, inspired by my love of outdoor pursuits: skiing, walking and climbing. Now retired, I seldom leave home without a camera and I find images in unexpected places and from different genres. I work on the premise that Photography is Art and that creativity is dependent on the cultivation of 'A Seeing Eye'.

Have you heard of, or read, the poem called “When I am an old woman, I shall wear purple”? Perhaps someone thought, “If it’s good enough for people, it’s good enough for my old building,” and went on to add the purple window coverings. It’s a fun look, for sure.

  2. I love purple – it reminds me Alice Walker’s quote: ‘I think it pisses God off if you walk by the colour purple in a field somewhere and don’t notice it’… 🙂

I have a friend who loves purple. Writes in purple ink. Maybe it is his place abroad!
