A few days ago we paid a visit to our local Ikea store. The façade of all Ikea stores (at least in the UK and I suspect elsewhere) is a combination of two bright colours – blue and yellow.
We walked the mile and a half through the store (or so it seemed), found what we wanted and headed back to the car. Our car is black, and black paintwork is a fantastic colour for reflections. I stared at the car and there was the storefront warped crazily.
I reached for my camera. Yes, the camera even goes to Ikea.
I distinctly heard a small child, who was walking by at that moment, say to her father: ‘Daddy, why is that man taking a picture of his car?’ I didn’t hear the reply.
Apologies for the crumpled wreck on the left of the image. Apparently it’s me. And notice the inverted image in the filler cap. Never saw that when I shot, but it just adds that little extra interest. Life’s like that.
Nice capture, Andy….

It’s sort of an abstract selfie. I like it (and Ikea).

Yes the colors of the Swedish flag. There seems to be so much pigment in the paint I wonder how it sticks to the building. What I think is most interesting about Ikea is the idea that you need to travel through the store in a prescribed pattern like a museum. Sure there are some “shortcuts” but for the most part you start and follow the path. A very different approach from any other store I can think of.
I like both pictures, but the reflection is really great. Wonderful observation. Most would not see it and if they did they would not take the time to capture it. Trying to figure out what model car it is but I don’t have a clue.

Thanks John. I’m ashamed to have to admit that I had never thought about those colours as being the colours of the Swedish flag! And the car is a Volkswagen Up! Small but very economical

I had to look up the VW Go. We don’t get many cool little cars here in the states, and I have to say I love the look of the car. Great design!

Groovy Andy 🙂
A little light relief after trip to IKEA never comes amiss . The reflection is very intriguing with all the swirls and ‘blotting paper ink markings’ musical staves of a size never seen … a sound wave or perhaps .. a cardiogram output 😉 ….

Thanks Poppy. Glad you like it. Bizarre how the building’s facade got so distorted, and also managed to show me twice: right way up and inverted!
