It’s been a busy week with images accumulating. For one image I didn’t have far to travel – just a few steps to the front window, where on a table sits the Poinsettia that I bought before Christmas.
This is a classic Christmas pot plant with beautiful flame coloured bracts, and lush green leaves. In the early morning this week, the sun has put in brief appearances, and the green leaves have just lit up. Couldn’t resist posting this to brighten your weekend.
There’s also a new Post up on my other blog iSighting. Do take a look at that – the topic is Camera Settings – or more precisely how to avoid shooting with the wrong camera settings. Click here to read more.
Just Fantastic!!!

Thanks for your comment. It looked fantastic – amazing what light can do to a leaf.

Brilliant image! (By the way, “pot plant” might mean something different here in the U.S.)

Ha! No ‘weed’ implied -Oops! Thanks for that, Rob. I’m struggling to think of an alternative word for a plant in a pot. Any suggestions!

Exquisite detail in the shot, Andy. And the poinsettia has a lot of detail to offer, it’s the perfect subject for photography.

This was one of those moments when you see every detail in a leaf in extraordinary detail. The difficulty was getting the right POV that didn’t have distracting detail in the background.

Thanks James – we certainly need some colour at the moment. I was out yesterday and suddenly the sun came out and the landscape was instantly transformed. Sadly I was driving and I didn’t have a camera with me. Fatal mistake!

All thanks to the sun which occasionaly has lifted the gloom of these wet grey days. Thanks for your comment

That sums it up rather well, Scott. Thanks. It just caught my eye one early morning. The sun goes – the leaves are dead.

Love it, andy — detail, colour, closeup. Never looked at a poinsettia leaf like this before; will the next time.

Thanks Janina. I don’t think I had ever looked at a Poinsettia leaf quite like that either. It was just catching the early morning light and the veins in the leaves were quite an extraordinary sight.

What an interesting vein pattern, Andy! The lighting here is perfect for it too. Really nice!

I thought you might like that – I didn’t even have to leave the house for it. Thanks George.
