The House of Music

Seen from the train at Martigny: ‘Maison de la Musique’. Literally the ‘House of Music’.  I thought the minimalistic concrete design of the building and the clever use of graphics combine to create a very effective advertisement for this facility – and an interesting image

Here is a translation of the French introduction to La Maison de la Musique from Martigny’s website:

“More than 500 young people are now attending our House!” Victor Bonvin, coordinator of the House of Music, will admit he is very satisfied with this new school year. “These premises are particularly well designed and the auditorium of 125 seats benefits from a special acoustic” – a tribute to the work of the architect John Chabbey, that brings together under one roof the Cantonal Conservatory, the Communal School of Music and the EJMA. “Perfectly located a couple of steps from the train station, the House of Music is a valuable tool for the cultural development of our region.”

About LensScaper

Hi - I'm a UK-based photographer who started out 45+ years ago as a lover of landscapes, inspired by my love of outdoor pursuits: skiing, walking and climbing. Now retired, I seldom leave home without a camera and I find images in unexpected places and from different genres. I work on the premise that Photography is Art and that creativity is dependent on the cultivation of 'A Seeing Eye'. I'm not averse to manipulating images to produce derivatives that may sometimes be far removed from the original.
